Other Information

Madison was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where she spent her childhood exploring the wild areas around the Mississippi River and the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Throughout college she had the opportunity to thru hike California’s famous John Muir Trail, work in upstate New York as the assistant director for her school’s outdoor orientation program, and generally spend as much time as possible outside. For the past two summers she has been thrilled to return to the Northwoods to lead backcountry expeditions for YMCA Camp Manito-wish. In college, Madison spent a semester sailing a tall ship around New Zealand while learning about marine science and the connections between people the natural world. This fostered her love for the ocean and combined it with her interests in environmental science and community living. Madison’s enthusiasm for geology has fueled adventures along the coast of Maine and in the Adirondack Park collecting and studying beautiful rocks. In her free time, she enjoys playing outside in all forms. You’re likely to find her on the water in a kayak, on her mountain bike, or out trail running. She’s also fond of baking pies, photographing the world around her, and relaxing with a good book.
