Other Information

Emily grew up in Mahtomedi, Minnesota where her fondest childhood memories consist of spending time outdoors with family, friends, and her three Siberian Huskies. While enrolled at the College of Saint Benedict, Emily pursued courses that expanded her interests in environmental ethics, conservation, and stewardship. During college she shadowed at a local CSA Farm, volunteered at a zoo, and completed a water conservation project in Abiquiu, New Mexico. In 2012 Emily studied abroad in Ireland, where she indulged in the rich culture and beautiful landscape. For summer 2013 Emily was the Mahtomedi Area Community Garden Education Intern, with responsibility for writing and teaching gardening lessons to elementary students. As an intern, Emily learned how rewarding it is to work with children who are curious about the environment. After college graduation, Emily worked at a food co-op, became an assistant preschool teacher, and volunteered for local environmental conservation projects. Emily also enjoys running, hiking, volleyball, reading and writing, and playing the piano and flute. Emily is always ready for a new adventure and making the most of every experience.
