Family Earth Art Project
Robert Eady, Art Teacher

Family weekend creates an opportunity for Earth Art students to collaborate on a project with their family members. The students have been engaged in a printing project during the past week and used the time with their family visitors in class to expand a bit on the project.

The task was to collect leaves from 10 different tree species in the inner-loop of campus, and then to identify the tree species and to print the leaves in their course journal. Their Earth Art journal is a place where the students are collecting representative samples of their work from throughout the entire semester, as well as reflections about their new learning and, growth and interest in the various media that they work and practice with during the semester.

During the activity today the family members enthusiastically joined in with the making of the leaf prints. Family members also accepted and appreciated the challenge of attempting to identify the tree species of the various tree leaves collected. As is evident in the photographs, craft skills, problem-solving and detective work were enjoyed by all.
