An Act of Advocacy
Jill Rennicke, Alumni Coordinator

Love to ski and snowboard? Love public lands but worry that you don’t have a voice in their protection or management, or that you simply don’t have time to contact your representative about your concerns?

Noah Miller, CS16 (Spring 2018), shows just how easy it is to have your voice heard. In a simple, short video, Noah shows himself making a call to Congressman Sean Duffy’s office and recording his concerns and doing it all in the short walk back to his car after a day of skiing. His simple act of advocacy, recorded in a short video, was picked up by Protect Our Winters (POW), an organization dedicated to the issues of climate change and recreation,  and used on their social media feed. This is a reminder to all of us that it doesn’t take moving mountains to speak up. It just takes a love of nature and a willingness to make the call.
