Emma Thiel CS13 First Place Apostle Islands Dog Sled Race
Jill Rennicke

Few people grow up on the back of a dogsled team. Mushing is something Emma Thiel (CS13) has been doing most of her life. Her family runs Wolfsong Adventures in Bayfield, WI offering dogsled adventures near Lake Superior since 1997. Emma grew up dogsledding and working with the family kennel which houses 40 Siberian huskies. With such experience caring for the dogs and a love of the sport,it was natural for Emma to begin competing in races at a very young age. Last weekend, Emma came in first place in the 22nd annual Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race,an event that featured over 40 teams in four different events. Emma's victory came in the Sportman's Class (44 miles over 2 days). A CS13 alum continues her love of the outdoors. From all of us at Conserve School, congratulations Emma!
